Furman celebrated our eleventh-annual partnership with #GivingTuesday on November 28, 2023.

Thank you to our Furman Family for your #GivingTuesday support! Your generosity in this season of giving is deeply appreciated.

Furman students will benefit from more than $610,000 in additional funding thanks to nearly 800 total gifts donated across 134 funds.

Every gift will support the student experience at Furman while contributing toward our historic Clearly Furman campaign. That’s worth celebrating!

Giving Tuesday Challenges

Congratulations to the winning funds of our three top Giving Tuesday challenges presented by the Furman University Alumni Association Board and the Young Alumni Council. These challenges gave donors the opportunity to increase their impact on academic departments, student programs, athletics teams, and other areas of campus.

$5,000 will be awarded to the fund with the highest unique donor count.

When you make a gift of $10 or more to any fund by 11:59 p.m. ET on Giving Tuesday, you will count toward the total number of donors. The winning fund must have a minimum of 50 unique donors to be eligible to secure the challenge, so encourage your friends to join you!

$5,000 will be awarded to the fund with the most dollars raised.

Your best gift to the fund of your choice will be combined with the generosity of others to determine the fund with the most dollars raised by 11:59 p.m. ET on Giving Tuesday. The winning fund must also have at least 25 unique donors to be eligible to secure the challenge.

Where will you make an impact?

This year, we’re highlighting two giving opportunities that have the potential to affect nearly every student on campus: the Student Scholarship Fund and the Paladin Scholarship Fund. You may also give to a favorite fund that supports an area of campus you care about most.

Student Scholarship Fund

Every donor plays an important role in our students’ educational path. Your support provides life-changing opportunities through The Furman Advantage and equips the next generation of leaders to make an even greater impact in the world.

Paladin Scholarship Fund

The Paladin Scholarship Fund is the primary means of philanthropic support for student-athlete scholarships. Your gifts make it possible for Furman student-athletes to excel in their sports while receiving an unrivaled education.

"Furman University has quite literally become my home. It is the place I truly feel safe, supported, challenged, motivated, and loved. My involvement with SGA, Cheer, and numerous other organizations since Freshman year, has aided me in being able to better appreciate the student body, faculty, staff, and structure that makes Furman so special. I give my heart and soul to Furman, and I feel that love right back. I wholeheartedly know that my experience and “home” would not have been possible without the support and generosity of Donors. I guarantee the kindness you pour into Furman is felt, seen, and heard. On behalf of the Student Body THANK YOU!!!"

"The Paladin Scholarship Fund has provided for me both as an athlete and as a student. To be able to get a high-level education as well as play on a Division 1 basketball team will help me greatly in my post-Furman career. The Paladin Scholarship Fund has helped me, as well as others, achieve our dreams of playing in the NCAA tournament."

"I love Furman because of the people that Furman draws in. We are all motivated, loyal, driven, and empowered. Furman is devoted to promoting an environment of critical thought and passion. It is easy to claim you stand for something, but at Furman, you are taught how to truly understand, process, and defend why you believe it. The Furman Advantage provides students with the chance to step outside of their comfort zone and explore what the world has to offer, all while still staying close to their own values and sentiments. At most universities, the place creates the people, but at Furman, the people create the place. I am thankful to all the donors who so generously give and provide opportunities for everyone in the Furman family."

"Growing up in the small island of Puerto Rico, playing collegiate tennis in the United States was a dream of mine. The Paladin Scholarship Fund has provided me with the opportunity to continue to develop my tennis by playing against the top teams around the country. Furman University allowed me to fulfill my dream of playing college tennis at the highest level, which I did not always believe was possible."

"My experience at Furman has defined who I am today entirely. From the friends I have made over the past four years, to the professors and staff that have made being a student a rewarding experience, I truly believe that Furman is a community with people at the heart of its core values. By surrounding myself with driven, talented, and diverse people, I find myself more involved and more invested in what I do at Furman every day. The memories and values made at Furman are invaluable to me and I would like to thank any and all donors that make those experiences a reality for students like me."

"The Paladin Scholarship Fund has given me the opportunity to be surrounded by the best coaches, teammates, and professors at one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. It is a special and humbling feeling knowing that I am supported both on the track and in the classroom every single day as a result of the generosity of others. I know relationships and experiences I have had are establishing a great foundation for life after Furman, and it’s all made possible by the Paladin Scholarship Fund. I’m proud to represent a University that has opened so many doors for me already, and I plan to continue to work hard and make my Furman family proud."
