Furman philosophy professor J. Aaron Simmons, Ph.D., has been named to the inaugural All-Southern Conference Faculty Team, the league announced Monday. Representatives from all 10 member schools were recognized by the league. The recipients shared demonstrated service to the institution, a proven record of high scholastic achievement among students, recognition for a research project or written academic piece; and contributions to campus life and the local community.
During its spring meeting Saturday, the Furman Board of Trustees approved promotions and/or tenure for 14 faculty members and heard that six new members will join the board this summer. The trustees also granted emeritus status to seven retiring professor and recognized the contributions of nine board members whose terms will expire June 30.
