Visions of sugar plums and sights of eight tiny reindeer are on full display at the Upcountry History Museum-Furman University, a Smithsonian Affiliate, in The Night Before Christmas: The Illustrations of Charles Santore exhibit now open, beckoning all to take a visually nostalgic journey through the cherished images of this iconic holiday classic. Visitors are transported back in time through an exhibit that features the detail-rich watercolor paintings of renowned illustrator Charles Santore. His unique style fills the images with wreaths, stockings, flying reindeer, and, of course, Saint Nick, all while bringing to life the warmth and spirit of this treasured narrative. With his dedicated precision and attention to detail, Santore’s illustrations give a depth of meaning to each highlighted verse while, as the international online bookstore Book Depository noted, “lending his fantastical splendor to perfectly capturing the memorable charm of this iconic poem.”
