Paul Jacobs, professor of organ at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City, will open the 2019-20 Hartness Organ Series with a recital Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 8 p.m. in Daniel Memorial Chapel on the Furman campus. For his Furman recital, Jacobs will perform works by Bach (Concerto in D minor after Vivaldi); Mozart (Fantasy in F minor, K. 594); distinguished former Juilliard and Curtis Institute of Music organ professor John Weaver (“Fantasia” for Organ); and Charles Ives (“Variations on America”). The program will conclude with the colorful “First Sonata” by French romantic composer Alexandre Guilmant.
The Sound Quality Concert Series event is open to the public and is presented by the Furman Department of Music. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors 60 and up and $5 for students.
