The Furman Paladins “Lunch & Learn” series presented by Sharonview Federal Credit Union continues on Tuesday, October 6, at noon and will feature former Furman great and current Minnesota Vikings offensive lineman Dakota Dozier ’14.
Dozier, a seven-year NFL veteran, was selected in the fourth round of the 2014 National Football League Draft by the New York Jets, with whom he spent five seasons before signing with the Minnesota Vikings in April of 2019. Over his seven seasons he has seen action in 57 games and made 14 starts, including nods at offensive guard in the Vikings’ three games this season.
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 312 pounds, Dozier was a four-year starter, three-time All-SoCon selection, and two-time All-America choice during his Furman career.
As a senior he served as team captain and was accorded the Southern Conference Jacobs Blocking Award after helping lead the Paladins to a SoCon championship and league’s automatic bid to the FCS playoffs. During his career he helped pave the way for three consecutive 1,000-yard rushers (2011-13).
The West Columbia, S.C., product played in the prestigious East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg, Fla., and participated in the NFL Combine. He was named Furman Male Athlete of the Year for 2013-14.
Dozier graduated in the spring of 2014 with a degree in health sciences.
Furman Paladins Lunch & Learn, which is accessible via Zoom, a remote conferencing service, is an interactive forum that assists in the dissemination of information while providing coaches, staff, and other special guests an opportunity to ask/answer questions regarding Furman Athletics.
Conceived to help Furman Athletics remain connected to its loyal fans, Lunch & Learn has featured director of athletics Jason Donnelly, men’s basketball coach Bob Richey, head football coach Clay Hendrix, and women’s head coach Jackie Carson over the last four weeks.
