From NFL Champion to Champion of Literacy: Literacy as a Game Changer

March 22 @ 7:00 pm

Malcolm Mitchell speaks on his personal story and his journey of championing literacy in “From NFL Champion to Champion of Literacy: Literacy as a Game Changer,” at 7 p.m. at the Daniel Chapel (CLP pending). A reception will be held after his presentation.

About Malcolm Mitchell

As Mitchell says, “To Succeed, You Must Read.” Malcolm’s story is one that resonates with many youths across the country. Malcolm grew up in a single-parent family and lived in poverty. As a K-12 student, reading was an unwelcome and undervalued chore. While at UGA, he started falling behind in his classes largely because of his extremely low reading level. He decided to join a book club that mainly consisted of white middle-aged women and ended up finding his love of reading.

After graduating from UGA and winning the Super Bowl with the New England Patriots, Mitchell created a youth literacy initiative called Read with Malcolm and established the Share the Magic Foundation. He now travels across the nation to speak out against injustice and advocate for the empowerment of youth through reading and writing. https://www.readwithmalcolm.com/
