The colors of the women’s suffrage movement were purple, gold and white. On Wednesday, Aug. 26, from 8:15 p.m. – 10:30 p.m., the bell tower and the Duke Library will be illuminated in the symbolic colors celebrating the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. At 8:30 p.m., students will read excerpts from the 19th Amendment and quotes from national and local suffrage leaders on the steps of Duke Library.
