This year Furman enrolled 101 students seeking to become the first in their immediate family to graduate with a baccalaureate degree. You can help welcome them by participating in the First-Gen First Friday program. The Center for Inclusive Communities is providing newly designed T-shirts to both faculty and staff who are first-generation college graduates themselves (commonly defined as neither parent having earned a four-year degree) as well as faculty and staff who are not first-gen but still want to show support.
The free tees will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on Wednesdays, Sept. 5, Oct. 3 and Oct. 31 from 11:30-12:30 in Trone Student Center. Join your colleagues in wearing the shirts on First-Gen First Fridays, Sept. 7, Oct. 5 and Nov. 2.
