CLP: Women, Gender, and Sexuality in World History

November 17 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The 1790s as the Age of Undress by Amelia Rauser

Wednesday, Nov. 17

6:30-7:30 p.m., Plyler Hall 126

Co-Sponsored by the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, Furman Humanities Center, and the History Department

The WGSS program, in collaboration with the History Department, Furman Humanities Center, etc. has developed a year-long series focused on women, gender, and sexuality in world history. Presenting a cross-section of WGSS issues across time and space, the series aims to highlight historical precedents to contemporary issues facing our campus, our country, and our world.

Recent evidence on the pandemic’s imbalanced toll on working mothers who left the workforce and on queer youth who remained in unsafe or non-affirming homes as well as the #MeToo movement’s focus on the systemic abuse of power/privilege reminds us that WGSS goes beyond curricular issues; it is about the world we live in.

This series offers a range of time periods, regions, theories, and methodologies.
