CLP: Tocqueville lecture with Princeton’s Alexander Nehamas

Author and Princeton University professor Alexander Nehamas will speak as part of Furman University’s Tocqueville Series Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 5 p.m. in Johns Hall 101 on campus. His talk, “Metaphors in Life: ‘I Love You for Yourself’,’” is free and open to the public. The lecture is the first of the 2018 Tocqueville Series, “Love, Friendship and Politics.” Nehamas is the Edmund N. Carpenter II Class of 1943 Professor in the Humanities and Professor of Philosophy and Comparative Literature at Princeton University. His interests include Greek philosophy, philosophy of art, European philosophy and literary theory.
