The resettlement of refugees has become a political flash point since President Trump’s election, with the Supreme Court’s recent passage of the revised travel ban being the latest measure. The specter of terrorism and concerns about national security have blurred lines between fact and fiction when it comes to the United States’ refugee vetting and resettlement processes. During this event, Communications Professor Alessandra Von Burg from Wake Forest University will discuss the intersection between rhetoric and today’s global refugee crisis. Her visit is sponsored by the Furman Department of Communication Studies, No Lost Generation, and the Furman University Debate Society. Von Burg’s talk takes place Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. in Johns Hall 101.
