CLP: “Race and Ethnicity in the American Past”

March 18, 2021 @ 7:00 pm

The history and theater departments will host a virtual CLP talk by Broadway actor Bryan Terrell Clark (of the musical “Hamilton”) on March 18th at 7pm. The CLP is part of the history department’s series on “Race and Ethnicity in the American Past,” and will examine the musical’s innovative use of race as a means of retelling the story of one of the founding father’s in a more inclusive and accessible way. They will also discuss with Mr. Clark his own experiences being an African-American actor on Broadway, get into how he prepared for his role, and uncover what people’s reactions have been to its novel approach to the complicated topic of race and the American past.
