The event will be a lecture by James Forman Jr., Pulitzer Prize-winning author of “Locking Up Our Own.” The book describes the history of mass incarceration in America, detailing the responses by the black community to racism within the criminal justice system. By telling this history, Forman seeks to create a common understanding of the injustice in the criminal justice system among all individuals (black & white, conservative & liberal). He is hopeful that, with this common understanding of our situation, we will be able to move forward together to make effective change and to move towards a more inclusive society.
