The Riley Institute at Furman University will celebrate its 20th anniversary Thursday, Oct. 3, with two events on campus. The first event, which is free and open to the public, is a celebration on Oct. 3 at 5:30-6:45 p.m. in Shaw Hall of Younts Conference Center. Former South Carolina Governor and U.S. Secretary of Education Richard W. Riley will share inspiring stories about his life and career. Individuals impacted by Riley will pay tribute to his principled leadership, which spans six decades. While admission is free, registration is required. Limited registration is available at the door.
The second event takes place Oct. 3 at 7-9:30 p.m. on Cherrydale lawn, just behind Younts Conference Center. Open to the public, the 20th anniversary party includes an outdoor BBQ and oyster roast, with music from Mac Arnold & Plate Full O’ Blues. Enjoy a Champagne toast along with beer and wine. Tickets are $60 per person with discounted tickets available for Furman faculty and staff. Registration is also required. Limited registration is available at the door.
