As part of FOX Carolina’s tribute to Black History Month, Jackie Smith Carson ’00, Women’s Basketball standout and Furman’s first Black female head coach, takes the spotlight. In an online interview with news anchor Victoria Carmen, Carson says she uses the game as a “vehicle to inspire” people, be they basketball campers, young Black females, or would-be coaches who doubt their ability to juggle both coaching and family life. Now in her 11th season with the Paladins, the mother of two and wife of Assistant Athletic Director Rob Carson, appears in two clips on FOX, here and at this link.
