Who gets a bed during coronavirus crisis? SC task force creates plan
It’s not a question of if, but when, says Carmela Epright with regard to the possibility of an overwhelming COVID-19-like pandemic in the Palmetto State. Epright, a Furman University philosophy professor, is part of the South Carolina Pandemic Healthcare Ethics Advisory Council, comprised of representatives from heath care, government, religious and community groups. The task force frequently meets online to tackle questions about limited hospital resources and what criteria to use for allocating them. The group will submit guidelines this week according to a story in The Greenville News.
