Furman University is gearing up for its seventh annual Giving Tuesday event on December 3. Last year, alumni, students and friends of the university celebrated the international day of philanthropy by contributing 744 gifts that totaled $216,134. This year, the university aims to reach 818 gifts.

Contributions made online during the 24-hour event directly impact Furman students. Through this support, they are provided an exceptional education that combines classroom learning with real-world experiences and self-discovery.

From 5 a.m. until midnight, Giving Tuesday participants have the opportunity to win hourly giving challenges, with incentives like Furman apparel, a Furman Christmas ornament and a Furman blanket. The university will announce additional incentives through its Alumni Facebook page. Last year, more than 40 donors won challenges by giving online.

“Gifts of all sizes are an investment in improving the lives of Furman students, said Annual Giving Director Rebecca Bilott. “We are counting on the Furman family to make this year’s Giving Tuesday our most successful yet. Together, we can make a huge difference.”
