Matt Olson’s latest CD project “789 Miles” wins praise from Mark Gilbert of Jazz Journal. For the trio project, the Furman professor of saxophone and jazz studies director enlisted the artistry of his current and former jazz students. “Five of the pieces are by Furman students or alumni and the real-world talent of the leader evidently extends to his charges, their pieces impressive modern mainstream structures,” writes Gilbert.
