BMW Charity Pro-Am announces celebrity roster

Fans of reality series juggernauts Duck Dynasty and Southern Charm will get the chance to see Willie Robertson and Shep Rose tee off alongside over 30 other celebrities— including Super Bowl Champion Aaron Rodgers— as the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation returns to Greenville May 17-20, 2018, at Thornblade Club, Furman University Golf Club and The Cliffs Valley.

It will be Robertson and Rose’s first trip to the tournament, where they will join fellow first-timers Brian Baumgartner (“Kevin”, The Office) and country music star Chris Lane. Olympic curlers John Shuster and Matt Hamilton, who became sentimental favorites of the 2018 Winter Games after winning gold with their teammates, will also make their debut.

Meanwhile, returning to thrill crowds with Rodgers are Anthony Anderson (actor, Black-ish), Larry the Cable Guy, Oliver Hudson (Nashville, Splitting Up Together), John O’Hurley (Seinfeld), Alfonso Riberio (America’s Funniest Home Videos) and Joe Don Rooney and Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts.

“We are very happy about the roster of talent we have traveling from across the United States to join us this year,” said Bob Nitto, President, BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation. “From comedians and actors to reality stars and professional athletes – I think every spectator is going to find someone on the list they will be excited to follow and even possibly meet.”

The celebrity roster for 2018 also includes Major League Baseball (MLB) Hall of Fame inductees Jim Rice, Juan “Pudge” Rodriguez and Ozzie Smith as well as MLB’s Jose Alvarez, Josh Beckett and Tim Wakefield. Andy Buckley (actor, The Office), Michael Collins (ESPN Sportscaster), Bill Engvall (comedian), Brian Grubb (wakeboarder),C. Thomas Howell (actor, The Outsiders), Dan Jansen (Gold Medal Olympian), Karen Jansen-Palaicio (Golf Channel Announcer), Ed Marinaro (actor, Hill Street Blues), Ron Perlman (actor, Hellboy, Iron Man), Patrick Peterson (Arizona Cardinals), Kevin Rahm (actor, Lethal Weapon), Rob Riggle (actor, The Daily Show), Richard Schiff (actor, West Wing), Sterling Sharpe (NFL), Paula Trickey (actress, Pacific Blue) and Cerina Vincent (actress, Stuck in the Middle) round out the list of noteworthy names.

“Once again, the tournament will introduce the Upstate to new celebrities, welcome back those who have supported us in the past, and bring a worldwide viewing audience via Golf Channel,” said Steve Sellery, Executive Director, BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation. “Each year, we also work to engage the entire community with different activities on and off the golf course; this year we are proud to introduce the Celebrity All-Star Softball Game, which we hope will become an annual tradition.”

The All-Star Celebrity Softball Game will take place on Thursday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. at Fluor Field, 945 S. Main St., Greenville. Admission to the softball game is included with each ticket purchased for the 3:30 p.m. game of The Greenville Drive on the same day.

A private ticketed concert ($250) will take place on Friday, May 18. The Downtown Concert is an exclusive evening, which will include musical entertainment, menu by Larkin’s on the River and beverages. Executive Women’s Day returns for year two on Monday, May 14, from 9:30 to 3 p.m. at Furman University’s Melvin and Dollie Younts Conference Center. The event will include a panel discussion for women, by women. Keynote speaker for the event will be Lisa Murray, Octagon Worldwide Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer. Tickets for that event are also available through Linda Johnson.

Funds raised through tournament volunteerism will benefit four featured charities: Children’s Hospital of Greenville Health System, Cliffs Residents Outreach, Mobile Meals of Spartanburg and Upstate SC STEM Collaborative.
