After starting the season 0-3, Clay Hendrix wasn’t thinking about winning streaks or NCAA playoff games. The first-year head football coach says he was more concerned with the Paladins getting their first victory.

But once the Paladins did win, which occurred dramatically in week four against Colgate (45-14), it’s been a season for the record books. Furman won seven of its last eight regular season games, qualified for the FCS playoffs and then defeated Elon on the road last Saturday, 28-27, in the tournament’s first round.

The Paladins avenged an earlier loss against the Phoenix, who had defeated the Paladins, 34-31, in Greenville in week two of the season. Now, for their second-round game this Saturday, the Paladins travel to Wofford to face a team that beat them 24-23 in the season’s first game.

Furman and Wofford have battled twice in a season five times over the years but never with more at stake than this coming Saturday. The game begins at 2 p.m. at Wofford’s Gibbs Stadium, and ticket information is available here.
