A History of Alabama

Dr. Edwin Bridges graduated from Furman in 1967.

After retiring as director of the Alabama Department of Archives and History, Edwin Bridges decided to write a new book about the history of the state.  The book, Alabama: The Making of an American State, was released just as the state approaches its 200th birthday.  Bridges, who graduated from Furman in 1967 and received his Master of Arts and doctorate in history from the University of Chicago, was featured in the Anniston Star.
