Furman, Community Inextricably Linked

In a Greenville News op-ed piece, Dr. Angela Halfacre cites beliefs of our nation’s founding fathers who espoused the importance of youth involvement in civic engagement and service. With Furman’s Community Engagement Initiative, the university has sharpened the lens on ways in which it can bridge campus and community. She says, “Furman’s goal is to help ignite a renewed commitment to revitalizing the community – by encouraging greater collaboration to confront social ills.”
