Before he became an eight-time winner on the PGA Tour and earned the reputation as one of the best putters in the history of golf, Brad Faxon ’83 was an All-American golfer at Furman.  Just days before the 2016 U.S. Open begins at Oakmont Country Club, Titleist.com recalled the 1983 U.S. Open that was played at Oakmont, where Faxon played as an amateur with his father, Brad Sr., on the bag.  As it turned out, Brad, Jr., made the cut and finished as the low amateur on the way to a memorable Father’s Day, even if Brad, Sr., seemed more interested in watching Arnold Palmer than his son.
