Get Ready for Dins Day II

Last year's inaugural Dins Day celebration was a big success.

Furman University will once again reach out to its alumni, parents and friends from around the world when the school celebrates “Dins Day” Tuesday, April 26.

April 26 is the last day of classes for students and “Dins Day” is a 24-hour celebration where all members of the Furman community are encouraged to wear purple, join the party online or at a local Furman event, broadcast their Paladin Pride through social media (using #DinsDay) and help raise money to support the university’s future students.

Last year’s Dins Day blitz was supported by 1,700 individual gifts totaling over $1 million.

Justin Rourk ‘14, Associate Director of Development Communications at Furman and coordinator of the event, says Dins Day 2015 set the stage for a more ambitious campaign this year.

“We are thrilled to launch our second ever day of Furman spirit and giving, and we intend to make it even bigger and better than last year,” he said. “In addition to our on-campus and online celebrations, we are adding regional events in Greenville, Atlanta, Charlotte, Charleston, Nashville, and Washington D.C.”

Rourk said it will be a day full of engagement, involvement and Paladin Pride, and philanthropy will continue to be one of the central themes of the day. The goal for 2016 is to secure more than 2,000 gifts through donor challenges promoted via email and social media.

“Dins Day” is derived from the university’s mascot, the Paladins. The event is modeled after similar 24-hour spirit and fundraising blitzes taking place at liberal arts universities around the country.
