Riley Institute hosts “Women in Public Media”

WomeninMedia2015, sizedWomen lead our state’s and the nation’s most prominent public media organizations. Four women at the top tell how their leadership is shaping the future of public media in a two-evening symposium 7-8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 9, and 7-8:15 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the Trone Student Center on the Furman University campus.

Free and open to the community, “Women in Public Media,” is presented by the Riley Institute at Furman, the Department of Political Science, and South Carolina ETV.

A schedule for the program follows:

7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 9, Public Media in a Post-Television Era
Patricia Harrison, President and CEO, Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and Paula Kerger, President and CEO, Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) give opening remarks followed by a conversation on the topic. Linda O’Bryon, President and CEO of South Carolina ETV, hosts the discussion.

7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 10, Women at the Top: Shaping the Future of Public Media
Mark Quinn, Director of Member and Public Relations, Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina, and former host of SCETV’s “Big Picture,” moderates a panel discussion featuring:
Patricia Harrison, President and CEO, Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB)
Paula Kerger, President and CEO, Public Broadcasting Service (PBS)
Jennifer Lawson, Senior Vice President for Television and Digital Video Content, CPB
Linda O’Bryon, President and CEO of South Carolina ETV
