2015 Women’s Leadership Institute accepting nominations

The Women’s Leadership Institute of Furman is led by women who have achieved prominence in business and in the community.

The Women’s Leadership Institute of Furman University is now accepting nominations for the Class of 2015.

Sponsored by Furman’s Center for Corporate and Professional Development, the Institute is led by women who have achieved prominence in business and in the community. In addition to sharing their successes and struggles, the session leaders demonstrate how women can excel in their careers, become more effective leaders, engage in their communities and build a powerful network.

“We live in an increasingly global society and are faced with economic, political and cultural challenges,” said Victoria Kirby, director of the Center for Corporate and Professional Development.  “Now, more than ever, we need inspired leaders—women who can be transformative in business, politics and communities. The Institute is looking for women who have demonstrated successful leadership, community involvement, and have a desire to help others.”

The Women’s Leadership Institute begins Jan. 13, 2015 with an evening orientation and kickoff, and will conclude April 28, 2015 with an evening graduation and dinner. The program features guest speakers, corporate education forums, a professional career assessment and a one-on-one coaching session to enhance personal leadership styles.  The sessions meet monthly on the Furman campus from noon to 2 p.m.

Graduates of the program are awarded continuing education credits to apply towards professional development requirements.  Nominations for the 2015 Institute have been extended to Oct. 16, and applications are due Oct. 31.

An electronic nomination form and general information about the Institute can be found on the Furman website. For additional information, contact Victoria Kirby at victoria.kirby@furman.edu or 864-294-2156.
