Furman gears up for new school year

Classes at Furman begin Tuesday, Aug. 27

GREENVILLE, S.C.—Furman University’s 2013-14 academic year will officially get underway Tuesday, Aug. 27 when students attend their first day of classes.

Approximately 800 freshmen will report to campus Friday, Aug. 23 and take part in four days of orientation activities.  The rest of the university’s 2,700 students will begin arriving on Sunday, Aug. 25.

Furman will hold its opening convocation Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. in McAlister Auditorium.

The fall term ends Dec. 10, while spring term begins Jan. 13 and ends Apr. 29.  Commencement will be held Saturday, May 10.  The May Experience term will run May 14-June 4.
