A famous photographic memory

When Furman student Samuel Douglas was 11 years old, he was part of a famous photo where he ran alongside Lance Armstrong during a bike race in Georgia. The photo, which appeared on the front page of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and in Sports Illustrated, had a prominent place on the desk of Journal-Constitution political columnist Jim Galloway. But when the recent revelations about Armstrong made Galloway publicly question the truthfulness of the photo, Douglas, a sophomore who is president of the Cycling Club at Furman, urged the columnist to hang onto it.
