After careful inspection by the foremost authority on English painter Thomas Gainsborough, it was determined that a painting that hangs in the home of the Furman president is indeed an original by the master himself. But, as Hugh Belsey revealed in his lecture Tuesday night, it wasn’t all good news for the “Portrait of Lady Impey.” Paul Hyde, arts writer for The Greenville News, reported on the findings.
