Hugh Floyd to guest conduct at Carnegie Hall

Hugh Floyd, director of the Furman Singers, will be making his Carnegie Hall debut as a guest conductor when he directs the National Festival Chorus Monday, Feb. 27.  The chorus includes students from Florida, Minnesota and California, and the program will feature works by Handel, Pfautsch, Barnum and Eric Whitacre.

Floyd was named director of the Furman Singers in 2010.  He is a 1984 graduate of the university, and received his master’s from the Eastman School of Music in 1985 and his doctorate from the University of Michigan in 2002.  Before coming to Furman, he was director of choral studies at Oberlin College Conservatory of Music in Ohio.
