Converting exercise into electricity
Fifteen of the elliptical machines in the Furman Fitness Center are equipped with devices to feed electricity generated by the users into the campus power grid. The Associated Press reported on the energy-saving system in the Physical Activities Center, which Fitness Center director Scott Murr calls the state’s “first human power plant.”
The ReRev system in the Fitness Center is a gift from the Class of 2010.
