Furman closed the fall season with a successful 5-2 record defeating rival Coastal Carolina 41-26 in the consolation finals of the Palmetto Tournament. The team dropped a disappointing 10-8 decision to Division I Clemson in the tournament’s opening game but recovered with a 60-10 win over USC JV and the victory over CCU.

“We improved from week to week and broke in a ton of new players,” says Coach John Roberts. “Of our starting 15 against CCU, only four started in last spring’s Rugby South Final game. So we are young. I am proud of our team chemistry and improvement from week to week.”

All of the results are posted on the 2011 Palmetto Tournament page.
