A New School Year on the Horizon

Furman University’s 2016-17 academic year will officially get underway Tuesday, Aug. 23 when students attend their first day of classes.

Approximately 780 freshmen reported to campus Friday, Aug. 19, while the rest of the university’s 2,700 students will begin arriving on Sunday, Aug. 21.

This year’s freshman class represents 33 states and nine countries.

Furman will hold its opening convocation Thursday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m. in McAlister Auditorium.

The fall term ends Dec. 6, while spring term begins Jan. 9 and ends Apr. 25.  Commencement will be held Saturday, May 6.  The May Experience term will run May 10-31.
