Dr. Guth Comments on RNC’s Partisan Prayers

Pastor Mark Burns of Easley made news when he spoke at the Republican National Convention, declaring that Donald Trump is a man of God and that the “enemy” is “Hillary Clinton and the Democratic Party.” Critics suggested Burns had crossed the line by asking God to favor one political party over another, and in an article in The Greenville News, Furman political science professor Jim Guth said that “partisan prayers at national conventions are virtually unprecedented.”
