As the investigation continues into the gunman of the Orlando nightclub shootings, Omar Mateen, the FBI is looking at Mateen’s wife and what she knew before the massacre.  In an interview with FOX Carolina, Furman philosophy professor Carmela Epright said it’s very common for the shooters to tell someone about what they are planning to do.  Dr. Epright, who teaches ethics at Furman, has studied mass shootings and argues that most mass shooters are not mentally ill.  In addition to teaching at Furman, she is a member of the clinical faculty at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, where she teaches medical ethics to physicians, residents and medical students.
